With only three weeks of filming left in the Marvin Gaye biopic, filming has been stopped for the past month. Initially it was due to problems with getting certain filming locations which then led to schedule conflicts with actors' schedules. However, different sources are reporting that there have been financing issues and the future of the film is uncertain. Crew members have apparently not been paid in full as a result of a cash flow problem with an American investor, however, it has been suggested that this has been resolved. Don't forget that if you're in New York next week to check out the Public Theater's forum on justice and money. Actors, including Jesse L. Martin, Vanessa Redgrave, Matt Damon, Alan Alda, Gloria Reuben, Christine Baranski, Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater and others, will read from Shakespeare, while Harvard professor Michael Sandel will lead a conversation about the rise of the language of money. Tickets are free and will be distributed, two per person, at noon on June 17th, 2013 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The event will take place that evening at 8 pm. Filming of the upcoming Marvin Gaye has been stopped for two weeks. However, the suspension is not due to financial problems or anything else that will prevent the film from being made, but rather certain locations became unavailable, which led to certain cast members being unavailable and vice-versa. On May 10th, NBC announced that the pilot The Secret Lives of Husband and Wives was not being picked up. (Deadline)

PROJECT NEWS: Marvin Gaye Film

On April 26th, 2013, it was announced that Focus Features International had picked up the Untitled Marvin Gaye film and would present the title to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next month. (Hollywood Reporter)

CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT: Jesse L. Martin to Portray Marvin Gaye

After several years of waiting, Jesse L. Martin fans can finally celebrate! It was announced today that Martin will replace Lenny Kravitz in Julien Temple's biopic about the legendary singer Marvin Gaye.

The movie will be set during the period that Gaye spent in Europe in the early 1980s, "when the soul singer attempted to get his addictions under control and career back on track with the help of British music promoter Freddy Cousaert (Gleason)."

Production is scheduled to start at the end of this month.
